Ever since my mother traveled to Firenze (I simply refuse to call it Florence) I have always wanted to visit the art capitol of the world. Unlike many other cities, Firenze stole my heart very quickly. Our hotel staff was amazing. Receptionist marked to our map all the best places to go and even told us when to see them. After that she walked us to our room and through the kitchen. Without her, the stay in the hotel would have not been much.
Siitä lähtien kun äiti kävi joskus vuosia sitten Firenzessä oon aina halunnut päästä maailman taidepääkaupunkiin. Toisin kuin moni muu kaupunki, Firenze varasti mun sydämen todella nopeasti. Meijän hotellin henkilökunta oli aivan mahtavaa. Respan tyttö kertoi meille kaikki parhaat paikat, nähtävyydet ja jopa koska niitä kannatti käydä katsomassa. Sen jälkeen saatiin kierros hotellin ympäri. Ilman tätä ihanuutta hotelli olisi ollut aika mitäänsanomaton.
Anyway. She told us to visit place called Marcato Centrale less than 100 meters from our hotel. It was definitely worth seeing, even though we didn't know how to shop anything from there since we only had a microwave to use. On our way to anything we always two Cathedrals, Lorenzo and the Duomo. Every town and city in Italy seems to have a Duomo, but Firenze's Duomo was something different. Made from variety of colors of marble, it was one of the most beautiful Cathedrals I have ever seen. And I do not tend to give credit to churches, since they all seem so similar in their flashiness and bigness. Duomo was not the only building I marveled in Firenze. Ponte Vecchio also stole my heart.
Jokatapauksessa. Hän osasi myös kertoa meille ihan hotellin kulman takana oli paikka nimeltä Marcato Centrale, hyvin kauppahallimainen suuri rakennus. Todellakin näkemisen ja kokemisen arvoinen, vaikka me ei sieltä keksittykkään mitään mitä oltaisiin voitu valmistaa hotellin mikrossa. Matkalla suunnilleen kaikkialle meillä oli kaksi katedraalia, Lorenzo ja Duomo. Jokaisessa kaupungissa Italiassa tuntui olevan Duomo, mutta siitä huolimatta Firenzen Duomo oli jotain aivan muuta. Upea monenvärisistä marmorista katedraali oli ehdottomasti kaunein katedraali, jonka olen koskaan nähnyt. Ja mä en oo ihminen, joka antaa helposti tunnustusta kirkoille, koska ne niin usein vaan vaikuttaa niin samanlaisilta. Duomo ei kuitenkaan ollut ainoa rakennus, jota ihailin Firenzessä. Myös Ponte Vecchio varasti mun sydämen.
The reason why I loved Firenze, was not only the marvelous buildings, but also the streets. Especially how little cars there was. And how many leather shops and stands they had. It seemed like anywhere you looked there was always a sign saying "Leather".
Ainoa syy miksi mä erityisesti rakastuin Firenzee, ei ollut rakennukset vaan myös kadut. Erityisesti kuika vähän niillä oli autoja. Ja kuinka paljon erilaisia nahkakauppoja ja -kojuja niillä oli. Tuntu että ihan sama minne katsoi niin aina jossain luki "Leather" (nahkaa).
Art. So much art. There was no way I could have seen even a 10th of it. The city breaths and is art itself. Lines to everywhere were humongous and it took several hours to get into Uffizi. But it was definitely worth the wait. Not only for the art, but also for the views the museum had. Galleria dell' Academia was very religious, but in ways I had not seen before. I also loved how easy the museums in Italy were to follow. Basically there was always only one way to go through them, which made it easier not to miss anything special. Very much unlike Versailles museum and Louvre.
Ja taide, ah niin paljon taidetta. Ei ollut mahdollista nähdä siitä edes kymmenesosaa. Koko kaupunki itsessään oli taidetta ja tuntui kuin se olis hengittänyt sitä. Jonot kaikkialle olivat kuitenki valtavat ja kesti useita tunteja jonottaa Uffiziin sisään. Museo oli kuitenkin kaiken odotuksen arvoinen. Ei ainoastaan taiteen takia mutta myös upeiden näkymien. Galleria dell' Academia oli todella uskontopainotteinen, mutta myös tavoilla, joita en ollut nähnyt ennen. Toisessa kerroksessa oli esimerkiksi munkkien koristamia tekstejä. Ja ne yksityiskohdat! Rakastan myös sitä kuinka helppoja museot on kulkea läpi Italiassa. Toisin kuin esimerkiksi Louvressa Italiassa suurimmassa osassa museoista oli vain yksi reitti läpi, jolloin kaikki tuli melko varmasti nähtyä.
